Joseph John Veltri, Sr., of Weirton, WV, a long-standing pillar of Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Weirton died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, August 13, 2021. He was 84. On July 27, 1957, he married Frances Ann “Cookie” Maslowski, they were married for 63 wonderful years until her passing on Tuesday, December 1, 2020. Joe worked hard in the mill but every long weekend he looked forward to spending time with his family. Many weekends they would pack up the car and head to Three Rivers Stadium to catch a doubleheader. If the Buccos were not playing they would spend time at Presque Isle or Tappan Lake. He spent many days teaching his boys how to play baseball in the backyard, and would always critique their games on the car ride home. Joe was loyal and dedicated to whatever he was involved in.
