As a member of the Alpha Phi chapter of Alpha Chi Omega Fraternity, Inc. at the University of Texas at Austin, I have been preparing for the opportunity to one day become Chapter President. Today, I can proudly say that I have achieved this goal. I'd like to thank the women in this chapter for allowing me to take on this role and serve on the 2023-2024 Executive Board. I'm very excited to continue to uplift our members and strive to be the real strong women that we are today. With that, I am honored to announce that I am officially Chapter President here at UT Austin's Alpha Chi Omega.

In 1911, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. -The Alpha Lambda Chapter (Louisville, KY) was chartered as a bridge between the past and future—the college-made brother to the brother who would remain active and engaged in Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated for life no matter where he would reside. Three years later, the fraternity would engage in the leaven of self-examination, some soul-searching about where we were as a #fraternity and where we were going. We have reached a point in our fraternal sojourn where we must ask some difficult questions about where we are as an organization, where we need to go, and what it will take to get there. And we need a General President who can lead us in effectively answering those difficult questions. We need a General President who can be a bridge between the past and the future, rooting us even more deeply in our aims, ideals, and values, as we tackle the challenges of today and tomorrow. We, the brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. -The Alpha Lambda Chapter, believe that Brother Gregory Parks is the candidate for General President who will be that kind of leader. We endorse him, and we ask you—brothers across Alumni Chapters, who wish for Alpha to remain faithful to its founding precepts and yet successfully navigate the decades that lie ahead—to support him, too. We need your support and delegates for the Dallas General Convention.Brother Derek Bell, CPAPresident, Alpha Lambda Chapter

Go to High School Go to CollegeThe "Go-to-High-School, Go-to-College" program, established in 1922, concentrates on the importance of completing secondary and collegiate education as a road to advancement. Statistics prove the value of this extra impetus in making the difference in the success of young African-American men, given that school completion is the single best predictor of future economic success. Through the Go-to-High-School, Go-to-College educational initiative, young men receive information and learn strategies that facilitate success. Alpha men provide youth participants with excellent role models to emulate.

Troopers from all over the world meet at the Extreme Ownership Muster. This two-day conference expands on the principles of Extreme Ownership and can be life-changing for those who attend.Echelon Front knows that attending a Muster is an incredible commitment: time, money, and passion. When troopers make the effort to meet in fellowship, amazing things happen. That’s why, when we tragically lose Troopers on The Path, we must do what we can to remember them.In 2021, Troopers Scott and Laurie Brown (Muster 011) were tragically lost in an ATV accident. In 2022, Trooper Dan Roman (Muster 007) succumbed to his long fight with Stage 4 cancer. In memory of Scott and Laurie Brown, along with Dan Roman, we are offering two scholarships to attend the Extreme Ownership Muster in 2023. We honor their memory by sharing the principles that meant so much to them.Scholarships to the Extreme Ownership Muster cover the cost of registration. You may nominate yourself, or someone you believe is deserving. When telling your nominee’s story, please share their leadership situation and how attending the Muster gets them further on The Path.Deadline for applications is February 12, 2023.https://lnkd.in/d9aDHx3Y

As these ADPi Senior's know, change can feel really scary. Especially when you don't know what to expect out of the next chapter of your life--and transitioning from student life to the work force is full of unknowns!I had the honour and privilege--and BEST TIME--hosting Facing Change, a workshop on this exact topic for the graduating women for Alpha Delta Pi Sorority - Beta Kappa Chapter, this past weekend. Proud alumna, here!We spent an incredible hour talking about all things CHANGE and life transitions, and how to develop the skills to tackle the unknown so that it feels like a natural part of life and something they're looking forward to.The most rewarding thing for me was seeing the transformation that took place for the women in the room from feeling a lot of fear to walking away with a sense of hope, confidence, and "I can do hard things" (their words, not mine).A few top takeaways from the women, that I want to share with you now in case they support you too:- From Brené Brown's Atlas of the Heart -- Anxiety and excitement are the same physical sensation. The only difference is our mental label of good or bad.- "As you start to walk on the way, the way appears." - Rumi- There's no right or wrong way to "do change". Everything--and I mean EVERYTHING--can be used in service of your highest growth. It was also a personal reminder for me that the effort is worth the reward when it comes to in person gatherings. So so good.

Ultimately, I've learned that life rarely follows a linear path, and it's okay not to have everything figured out when you’re younger.”Learn more about our honorees here: https://bit.ly/4c8KPOd

Words (nearly) escaped me when The Eisner Foundation informed me that I am one of five individuals selected as the inaugural Eisner Prize Fellows! I’ll admit I did not immediately apply when I first heard about the Fellowship. I figured there were so many spectacular individuals out there with ideas around intergenerational engagement so why spend the time to apply and get turned down. It was imposter syndrome for sure! But thankfully my friend and colleague Jane Rohde tenaciously encouraged and re-encouraged me to apply. Sometimes our allies see things in us that we don’t!Creating equity in caregiving and aging for all is an unwavering vision for me personally and professionally. My project for the Fellowship goes to the heart of this vision. Developing a scalable, replicable model of intergenerational housing in affiliation with Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs). Creating community living that fully welcomes, accepts and supports older adults, caregivers, students, faculty and others seeking a safe and inclusive living, learning and working environment. I’m excited to share more as we ramp up our work and develop a coalition of stakeholders to bring intergenerational community living to the dozens of HBCUs across our nation. Progress towards equitable opportunities and access to higher education for Black and Brown people is being threatened in increasingly pervasive and damaging ways. Access to affordable housing, supports and services for caregivers, older adults and students is seemingly further and further out of reach. The HBCU Intergenerational Housing Initiative seeks to make impact through inclusion. And we are building a coalition of stakeholders, allies, supporters, partners and funders to do the work. Learn more about all the projects being lead by the Eisner Prize Fellows in the post below as well at the Generations United 22nd Global Intergenerational Conference in Washington, DC later this month. Lastly a huge THANK YOU to these individuals and organizations for your thought partnership, support and action!Caregiver Action Network UNCF Erica Thrash-Sall, FACHE Sarah M.
